I think one of the ways this can be done is to use some kind of buddy-system where teachers co-teach in both spaces so there is cross pollination of ideas and perhaps even attitudes. I think what schools like Cedar House in Cape Town are doing is pretty visionary. http://www.capetownweb.co.za/CedarHouse/index1.htm

Well done Dave on finally revealing your age online. Must have been their comment about what you wanted for your 40th birthday. Shaun, with reagrds to your question, I come form a family of educationalist who have worked in both the private and pyublic scholl spcaes in SA. Apparently, at primary school level, private schooling is pretty irrelevant but where it really seems to matter is at high school level. I am not sure of the veraicty of this but anecdotal evidence does seem to corroborate it. Good luck!

As a father of 2 and my eldest a year from starting primary school, the cost of education terrifies me. Are private schools taking advantage of a parents willingness to spend almost anything for their children or are fees such as R30k per year for a 6 year old justified?

Are there any proven benefits from attending a private school over a public school.
